This is the final report of the New Zealand Law Commission's review, following consultation on its previous issues paper. The report was released on 3 May 2011 and makes recommendations to Government about how New Zealand's drug laws can be updated.

Evaluation of the Mental Health/ Alcohol and Other Drug Watch-house Nurse Pilot Initiative (2010) (www.police.govt.nz)

The Mental Health/Alcohol and Other Drug Watch-house Nurse Pilot Initiative places appropriately qualified nurses within two watch-houses to assist Police to better manage the risks of those in its custody who have mental health, alcohol or other drug problems.   This final evaluation presents the findings of the initiative during its first 18 months of operation.  In doing so, it addresses the main objectives of the pilot, and intended outcomes of these objectives in turn.
